Snap-on Tools® offers a line of articulating high-output flashlights, including the ECARD062G. Famous for its suite of professional-grade tools, Snap-on® products are made to hold up and perform in hardworking and gritty environments. This flashlight is no exception. The buy one, you'll need to pay about $160 plus shipping. At this price point, several questions come to mind (that's an understatement!). What kind of features does this light have that would make it worth the purchase price? What brightness output does this product have? Where would I use this ongoing that would make it worth that type of investment? Full disclosure here. One of our sons, John (also affectionately known as "Bucky") gave this commercial unit to us as a gift. Bucky works in an industrial setting that services large trucks and fire engines, as well as does complete engine rebuilds for large diesel powerplants used in mining haul trucks and shovels. These Snap-on® lights are used throughout his shop and he bought one for himself and at the same time, one for us. When he proudly presented it to us, he told us that we were really going to enjoy using this flashlight, but cautioned it was likely quite a bit more expensive than we were likely to pay. He was right - but that was before we knew how handy this device is. The bottom line is that $160 IS a lot for most of us to pay - but you need to factor in how much you use the flashlight and how many problems it solves for you. If the product works hard and it lasts for several years, then the cost of ownership is pretty low and the value is quite high. We think the best uses for this light are vehicle maintenance, task lighting when additional temporary lighting is desired, emergency lighting when power fails, temporary party tent lighting, outdoor events, and for camping. Besides being a great handheld flashlight, this unit excels by providing very bright directional lighting that can be set up in a variety of ways. If ferrous metal is part of where you are working, all the better. Powerful magnets placed in the end and side of the unit allow you to easily mount the unit and direct lighting exactly where you want it. This is excellent for vehicle work, whether it be under the dashboard, in the engine compartment or under the vehicle. It works well in the shop too, such as when more lighting on the band saw or drill press is needed. With the articulating arm, you can choose to illuminate one or both sides. This means you can direct the light in one direction (out of your eyes!) or use both sides to light up an entire setting. This is very handy for a party tent or outdoor lighting, in a campsite, or an entire room during a power failure. Light output is 600 lumens using a single side of the light wand, 800 lumens when using both. The single-end spotlight puts out 300 lumens. For comparison, a 100-watt light bulb emits about 1600 lumens, a 60-watt bulb puts out about 800 lumens, and a 40-watt bulb produces about 450 lumens. A couple more important features include the body of the light being overmolded with a wear-resistant surface that also provides an anti-skid grip. Lastly, the unit is rechargeable using the bidirectional USB-C port. Spiffy, huh? To get one, you can visit - THE BOTTOM LINE?
